Given the fact that India has a severe shortage of human resources for health & most of the available resources being concentrated in urban areas, tribal groups in under-developed, conflict-affected & hard to reach areas suffer the most.

Dhandakaranya, located in the heart of India, is a region with the mostly tribal population. This, unfortunately, happens to be the epicenter of Left-wing extremism. Consequently, the dismal health (and other development) indicators of the area provide glaring evidence of this reality. This is especially true in case of districts such as Sukma (Chhattisgarh) and Malkangiri (Odisha).
